Anaehoomalu Beach, backed by hundreds
of palm trees and, is famed for its breathtaking sunsets.
This is one of many beautiful beaches on
Kona's Kohala Coast. Graceful coconut palms line the westward facing beach, and tranquil
fish ponds lie directly behind the beach. The beach itself is nice,
with white sand and good swimming and there are several small coves
along the coast which are almost always empty. The shallow
waters of the bay are also shared by a myriad of boats coming ashore
and anchoring. Some of the best
Hawaiian sunsets are
viewed from Anaehoomalu Bay.

Calm waters allow you and your family
to swim, snorkel, and enjoy the day. If you look closely, you will
often find Hawaiian sea turtles
swimming in the shallows, particularly at the South end of the bay.
There is plenty of shade from the tall palm trees so you can relax here
all day. In the early evening, this is a wonderful place to catch
the splendid sunsets of the Kona coast. Just off of the beach is a
scenic lagoon surrounded by palm trees, making a nice sunset photo.
If you are looking for food or shopping, there are several restaurants
and a large assortment of stores in the Waikoloa resort area. Public parking, rest rooms and showers are available on
location. From the parking area there is a paved trail taking you to
the beach area. This beach is baby stroller accessible.
Anaehoomalu graces a
couple of large resorts and slightly north but within the Waikoloa
Resort complex is the extraordinary Hilton complex with its man-made
white-sand crescent beach and coral lagoons that are ideal for family
swimming and snorkeling. You can even see sea turtles swimming
in the Hilton lagoon! If you choose to stay on the
Kohala Coast, make sure you venture down to

Kona for lots to see
and do. Don't forget to check out our
